Revenue and Payouts

Every sale writes a ledger entry the moment the payment processor confirms it. The entry records the gross price, the tax deducted, and the split, so what you are owed is derived from recorded numbers rather than recalculated from a price that may have changed since.

How a sale is recorded

A $2.99 sale looks like this:

FieldAmountWhat it is
Gross$2.99What the buyer paid.
Tax$0.50Sales tax, remitted by the merchant of record.
Net$2.49Gross minus tax. The split is taken from this.
Your share$1.7470% of net.
Store share$0.7530% of net.

The tax figure depends on the buyer's country, so the same tier does not always produce the same cents. The percentages never change.

Clearance

A new entry is accrued, not withdrawable. It becomes withdrawable 14 days after the sale, matching the refund window exactly.

The reason is that a refund reverses the sale. If earnings could be withdrawn the same day, a refund on day ten would have to claw money back from someone who had already been paid. Holding for the length of the window means a payout can only ever contain sales that can no longer be refunded.

Withdrawing

Revenue and Payouts. The withdrawable figure counts only cleared earnings; anything still inside the 14 day window is listed separately beneath it, and every sale appears in the ledger with its own state.

The minimum withdrawal is $20.00, and it applies to the amount you ask for rather than to your balance: having $40 cleared does not let you withdraw $5. The ceiling is whatever has cleared, and asking for more is refused with the figure rather than quietly reduced.

Why a Wisetag and not a bank account

Payouts go Wise to Wise. A Wisetag is the @name on a Wise account, and it receives money without you handing over a phone number or bank details to anyone.

It is also the cheapest route by some distance. Wise does not charge for sending money to another Wise account in the same currency. Paying out to a bank instead means a transfer fee that varies by currency, a conversion fee whenever the currencies differ, and a higher fee again for USD leaving the US, which is every payout this store makes. Sending USD to your Wise balance costs nothing and leaves you to convert when the rate suits you.

One thing to check on Wise's side: your Wisetag only works if discoverability is switched on in your Wise settings. Otherwise the tag cannot be found and the transfer cannot be addressed.

  1. Open the Developer Center in the app and find your balance.
  2. Request a withdrawal, give your Wisetag, and say how much you want. The default is your whole cleared balance, but you can take less and leave the rest to accrue.
  3. The request is queued for a moderator. Transfers are made through Wise, which reaches most countries and local bank accounts directly.
  4. Once sent, the ledger entries covered by that payout are marked paid, so the same earnings cannot be requested twice.
The withdrawal form. The amount defaults to everything that has cleared and can be lowered; the store checks it against the ledger again on arrival, so the figure shown here is never the only thing standing between a request and the money.
